The narratives of the senior school Education in Immaculate Conception College
The Senior Secondary School arm of Immaculate Conception College is designed in line with the National Policy on Education to prepare young students for higher education and to provide opportunity for students to gain higher quality education. At this level, students are exposed to variety of subjects with wider horizon as against the concise packages of subjects they were exposed to at Junior Secondary School level.
The diversity in curriculum takes care of the differences in talents, opportunities and roles possessed by or open to students at the end of the senior school program. This also helps our students to live effectively in the ‘GEN’ age of science and technology.
With this in mind, the college has assembled seasoned teachers with qualifications ranging from Bachelor’s degree, Masters degree and Ph.D both in Education and other disciplines of mastery. The college equally has provided laboratories ranging from Computer and Language to chemistry, physics, biology, agricultural science laboratories and visual art studio. Library and other facilities are provided for comprehensive academic and co-curricular activities. Large college fields that stimulate the desire to play games are also provided, well lighted and ventilated class room facilities are ensured.
The college being aware that that the senior secondary School is prelude and basic to studies in higher institution, created a conducive environment for teachers to prepare students to guide jealously every information and knowledge provided them for future reference. Students are nutured to aspire to be independent in every activity they engage in, be it writing of exams or in exercising any skill they acquire. Skills because there are trade subjects that afford students opportunities to earn a living or gain extra means of income.
Students can beat their chest, walk tall and hold their heads high as they showcase the results obtained from any of the certificate examinations. According to the college motor: ‘Semper et ubique fidelis’ which means ‘Always and everywhere be faithful’ is lived to the core in teaching, learning and writing of examinations and in other spheres of life.
The college believes in her students, because the students believe in the college first. You can be part of this new move to build reliable individuals for a reliable nation.
